GRAIN ROT Grinder profit calculator
Quick answer
The Grinder pays Gold for bulk furniture scrap — but only grind once per cleared room, and never grind Artifacts. Artifacts belong to the Ball Machine, which rolls them into Outpost blueprints. Enter what you looted and your own Gold-per-unit estimate below to see the payout.
The Grinder is the loudest thing in the Deep Layers. Every second it runs pulls the Corrupted toward you, so the rule is grind once, grab the Gold, and move — not "grind until the room is empty."
The grinding rules
| Rule | What it means |
|---|---|
| Grind bulk furniture once per room | Process the big furniture in a cleared room a single time, take the Gold, then move. Re-running the Grinder just keeps the noise up. |
| Never grind Artifacts | Artifacts are not scrap. Grinding a glowy Artifact destroys the blueprint it would have rolled at the Outpost unlocker. |
| Artifacts → Ball Machine | Send Artifacts to the Ball Machine instead. It converts them into Outpost blueprints you cannot get any other way. |
| Heavy processing is loud | The Grinder's noise draws the Corrupted. Grind on a cleared room, not while the crew is still exposed. |
Calculator — estimate your payout
Prices are your own estimate, not official rates — GRAIN ROT does not publish fixed Grinder values, and they shift with patches. Put in the unit Gold you are seeing this patch and the calculator sums it for you. Artifacts are tracked separately and excluded from the grind total on purpose.
Furniture you are grinding
Artifacts — do NOT grind these
Reading the result
- Grindable Gold is the sum of furniture quantity × your Gold-per-unit. It excludes Artifacts by design.
- Artifacts are not Gold. The calculator never adds them to the payout, because the right move is the Ball Machine, not the Grinder.
- One pass per room. The number tells you what a single grind pass is worth — do not stay to chase a bigger total while the Corrupted close in.
- Estimates drift. If a patch changed Grinder values, update your unit prices; the math is only as good as the numbers you enter.
